When four baby turtles are exposed to radioactive ooze, they turn into humanoids, forming the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

From the older to the youngest, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo are a group of four brothers living in the sewers, fighting the evil in New York City.

About Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT)

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (also known as the Ninja Turtles or TMNT) are a fictional group of four teenage anthropomorphic turtles named after four Renaissance artists who were trained in the Art of Ninjutsu by their anthropomorphic rat sensei, Splinter.

They fight petty criminals, wicked overlords, mutant creatures, and extraterrestrial invaders from their home beneath New York City’s sewers, all while striving to stay hidden from humanity.

Before being expanded into a TV series, films, video games, toys, and other miscellaneous commerce, the characters started in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book.

The franchise achieved substantial international success and fame during its peak popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Now let’s talk about each one of them.

Leonardo (Leo)

Leonardo is named after Leonardo da Vinci, a Renaissance great artist, and he is often called Leo. He is the original leader of the team, because of his discipline and competence.

Leo wears a blue bandanna on his hands with two Ninjatos as his signature weapons.

Leonardo is the eldest brother and the one who most closely follows Splinter’s teachings and ideas. He is mature, smart, serious and the most mature out of them all.

When Master Splinter isn’t around, he is usually the one in charge.

Raphael (Raph)

Raphael, known as Raph, is the second eldest among the four brothers. He was named after the 16th-century Italian painter Raffaello Sanzio. Raph wears a red headband, and his signature weapons are two Sai.

Raphael is famous for his sarcastic character. He’s aggressive, rebellious, sulky, and most importantly short-tempered.

On several occasions, Raphael and his only older brother Leonardo have a long-standing rivalry, mainly because Leo is always seen as the leader of the team.

Donatello (Don or Donnie)

Donnie is the turtle who is always regarded as the team’s smartest member, particularly in terms of science and technology.

Don is a talented inventor who can create a variety of gadgets and equipment that he prefers to use over fighting, which serves him and his brothers.

Donatello is the third-eldest sibling. He wears a purple bandanna and carries a Bō staff as his signature weapon.

Don was also named after a Renaissance artist, which in this case is Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi, the famous Italian sculptor.

Michelangelo (Mike or Mikey)

Like the rest of his brothers, Mikey is named after the Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarroti. He is the youngest of all four brothers.

With his orange headband and a dual Nunchaku as his signature weapon, he is the most naturally gifted out of all of them.

Mikey is always seen as immature, lighthearted among his brothers. He would always rather have fun than train and take things seriously. Mikey is humorous, optimistic, and known for his wisecracks.

He loves skating, and like all of the four brothers, they showed a big love for pizza.
