7 Best 11-inch Laptop: Reviews & Complete Buying Guide

picture of a small 11 inch laptop lying on a table

Sometimes, you just want a cheap little laptop for browsing the web and filling out forms. Or maybe you’re the owner of a small store and want a point of sales machine.

Either way, you don’t need a lot of power for these basic tasks. Nor do you need a large display, like 14 inches and above.

In fact, the 11-inch laptop market is fairly crowded with models from various manufacturers, and lots of people buy these tiny devices.

Our top choice for best 11 inch laptop is the ASUS Laptop L210, it is faster than any other laptop you’ll get at this price point and actually has a decent display.

The build quality is good enough for daily usage, and it’s cheaper than some of the other offerings from companies like Dell or HP.

Plus, it weighs just 2.2lbs and comes with Windows 10 (in S mode, which can be changed manually to regular Windows 10).

One more thing worth noting, is that 11-inch laptop translates to 11.6” because that is the standard display size (measured diagonally between opposite edges). This is if your laptop has a standard 16:9 aspect ratio (which most 11 inch laptops do).

Here is our list of 7 best 11-inch laptops:

  • 1ASUS Laptop L210
  • 2Jumper EZbook X1
  • 3Samsung XE310XBA-K02US Chromebook
  • 4Lenovo 130S
  • 5Lenovo Flex 3
  • 6ASUS VivoBook E12
  • 7HP Stream 11

A basic yet adequate option for most people who want to buy an 11-inch notebook, the ASUS Laptop L210 is as thin & light as its name is bland and uninspired.

You aren’t going to get a ton of performance from a notebook with a Celeron dual-core processor, but that’s not the point- for this price, there is nothing better.

You can choose between some no-name Chinese tablet with a MediaTek processor or an ASUS notebook with a decent low-end Intel chip.

On top of that, it even has a backlit keyboard and unique trackpad design. There is a Numpad built into the trackpad (you can toggle the Numpad on or off).

The display is 768p, but this is an 11.6” laptop so you won’t notice any jaggies unless you get up close. Battery life is decent, and the overall profile is extremely thin at just 0.7”.

Pros

  • Intel Celeron N4020 with 2 physical cores, and a boost clock up to 2.8GHz
  • 11.6” 768p display with good colors and narrow bezels
  • 4GB DDR4 RAM
  • 64GB eMMC storage
  • Just 0.7” thick and 2.2lbs
  • Backlit keyboard
  • Large trackpad with a built-in Numpad
  • 180° lay-flat hinge

Cons

  • Poor audio quality
  • Windows 10 in S-mode

In terms of sheer performance and build quality, this might just be THE best 11.6” laptop you can buy… if you’re willing to ignore the price tag.

It is significantly more expensive than the ASUS Laptop L210, which is why it barely missed out on the top place. However, it definitely takes an undisputed 2nd place in our list of best 11.6” laptops.

The Jumper EZbook X1 is the only laptop on this list with a Full HD (1920×1080) display, and it uses an IPS panel which means you get far better colors and viewing angles compared to any other laptop at this price range.

Oh, and did we mention this is a 2-in-1 laptop? Yes, it has a touch display and a 360° hinge. When you factor that in, this laptop’s price tag doesn’t seem unreasonable at all. In fact, it might just be a steal.

The chassis is made from aluminum alloy, which makes it more rigid without compromising on weight.

Compared to an ASUS Laptop L210 or HP Stream 11, this laptop feels much sturdier. And it also sweeps the aforementioned laptops away in terms of processing power since it packs a quad-core Celeron processor instead of a dual-core.

Pros

  • One of the only laptops (probably THE only laptop) at this price that has a Full HD IPS display
  • Intel Celeron quad-core processor
  • 6GB of RAM, which is massive when you consider many other laptops in this market segment have just 2 or 3GB of RAM
  • Extremely well-built with an aluminum alloy chassis
  • Weighs just 2.3lbs
  • 128GB storage, has M.2 slot so you can expand storage (and there is a TF card slot too)
  • Good keyboard with large keycaps and ample key travel
  • 360” display hinge, plus the display is a touchscreen
  • Lots of I/O- Type C, micro HDMI, etc

Cons

  • You don’t get the warranty or post-sales service that you would from a manufacturer like HP or Dell
  • Micro USB instead of standard USB

The only Chromebook at this price range that’s rated for military standard durability (this laptop is MIL-STD-810G certified).

You can drop it, shake it, expose it to extreme weather, and this Samsung Chromebook will still function. Whether you’re out in the desert, or on snow-covered mountain peaks, you know you’ve got a decent little laptop at your side.

We still wouldn’t recommend it for mission-critical applications, because in such scenarios a Panasonic Toughbook is what you should have. Those laptops are built for the specific purpose of handling rough weather and harsh usage.

However, if you have a very limited budget and still want a laptop that you can take outdoors, this is your best option.

Pros

  • Celeron N4000 with 2 physical cores, and a boost clock of 2.8Ghz
  • 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM
  • 64GB eMMC memory
  • Full-sized keyboard and trackpad
  • Military-grade durability (MIL-STD-810G)
  • Up to 12.5hrs of battery life
  • USB Type C and 802.11ac Wi-Fi

Cons

  • Non-upgradable memory
  • Below average audio quality

When you buy a Lenovo, you know you’re getting a quality product for the money. Even though the 130S is a really cheap notebook designed for basic tasks like web browsing and spreadsheets, it is still built well.

The lid doesn’t feel flimsy, and the keyboard deck doesn’t have much give to it. The actual keyboard itself is pretty nice, with ample key travel and decent-sized keycaps.

This laptop is perfect for kids who want to learn the basics of computing, or folks who want a cheap Linux laptop to acquaint themselves with the OS.

You do get a free 1-year subscription of MS Office 365 along with the laptop so you can definitely transform this into a portable word processing/ spreadsheet machine.

And in a pinch when you don’t have anything else, you can even do video calls on it since this little notebook has a webcam + microphone.

Pros

  • Intel Celeron N4000 processor
  • 768p 11.6” display
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64GB eMMC storage
  • Windows 10, and a free 1-year subscription to Office 365 Personal
  • USB Type-A, HDMI, USB Type C, 802.11ac Wi-Fi

Cons

  • Webcam has poor image quality
  • Speakers sound hollow and have no clarity at higher volumes

With a 768p touch display and robust 360° hinge, this is a really nice budget 2-in-1 for anybody who wants to get into content creation or digital drawing.

Now, this isn’t a great touchscreen but it will do for beginners who want to familiarize themselves with graphic design software. Ideally, you want a graphic tablet like the Wacom CTL4100 Intuos if you’re serious about creating digital art.

The Lenovo Flex 3 is a Chromebook and it runs Chrome OS. The processor powering in it is a MediaTek quad-core 28nm SoC from 2015, so don’t expect this laptop to feel responsive. It is sluggish and has just 32GB of eMMC storage, so it feels more like an old tablet than a laptop.

However, you get a proper keyboard and a decent 11.6” display. Tablets don’t have actual keyboards, nor do they have the I/O this Lenovo laptop has (HDMI output, USB Type A, USB Type C, etc.

Pros

  • Energy-efficient MediaTek MT8173 quad-core processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 32GB eMMC storage, plus 128GB micro SD card
  • 11.6” 10-point multitouch screen
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi
  • HD webcam
  • 0.77”

Cons

  • The dual 2W speakers are extremely weak
  • Poor graphics performance

VivoBook laptops are known to be affordable, yet stylish and decently powerful laptops for everyone from home users to small business owners.

However, this is probably the cheapest VivoBook we’ve ever reviewed, it is really cheap. And one has to wonder which corners ASUS had to cut in order to make it available for this price.

Because with a laptop like this, it’s not a matter of whether they compromised, but what they compromised on.

Thankfully, the processor is adequate for most basic users- you can stream movies from Netflix, watch YouTube videos, browse the web, read eBooks, post on social media, etc.

That pretty much covers 70 percent of what the average home user does, but what if you’re a businessperson who needs a laptop for spreadsheets and presentations? Well, the VivoBook E12 can definitely handle those tasks but the performance will let you down.

It doesn’t have the processing power or RAM to be a true enterprise laptop, so we suggest you look for something in the 600 to 700 dollar range instead if you want a proper office laptop.

Pros

  • Intel Celeron N3350 processor with 2 physical cores and 2.4Ghz boost
  • 4GB LPDDR4 RAM
  • 64GB eMMC storage
  • Intel HD integrated graphics
  • 180° hinge
  • Microsoft 365 personal subscription for 1 year included, along with preloaded Windows 10

Cons

  • Some of the already limited storage space is taken up by bloatware
  • Windows 10 in S-mode

HP Stream 11

2021 Newest HP Stream 11-inch HD Laptop, Intel 2-Core N4000 up to 2.6 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB eMMC, Webcam, HDMI, Windows 10 S with Office 365 Personal for 1 Year, White + Oydisen Cloth
  • Intel Celeron N4000 (1.1 GHz base frequency, up to 2.6 GHz burst frequency, 4 MB L2 cache, 2 cores)

  • Windows 10 Home in S mode (upgradeable to Windows 10 Home); 1-year Microsoft 365 Personal subscription included

It is called the Stream because this laptop isn’t much good for anything else other than streaming movies from sites like Netflix, Hulu, etc.

It could function as a word processing/ spreadsheet laptop if you don’t work with large file sizes or complex projects, and are okay with below-average performance.

In terms of processing power, you get a Celeron N4000 which is pretty much standard for most laptops of this type.

However, it uses DDR3L RAM which is slower than DDR4 and as a result the iGPU performance tanks (not that there was much, to begin with).

Still, you shouldn’t be too concerned if all you do is browse social media and watch videos on YouTube. It is okay as a cheap Zoom/ Skype machine since the webcam isn’t horrible.

Pros

  • Intel dual-core Celeron processor, N4000
  • 4GB DDR3L-1600 RAM
  • 32GB eMMC storage
  • HP webcam with built-in microphone for video calls on Skype and Zoom
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi, USB Type C, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A, HDMI output
  • Battery life lasts up to 12 hours
  • Weighs just 2.37 lbs
  • Office 365 personal subscription for 1 year, included in the box

Cons

  • You have to upgrade the storage with an SD card as 32GB is too little
  • No keyboard backlight

How To Select The Best 11 inch Laptop

Honestly, just buy one that is relatively new and fits your budget. There isn’t a whole lot of variety when it comes to laptops with 11-inch screens, and the level of processing power between different models is relatively similar.

You are going to get a Celeron, Athlon, or Pentium processor. And it’s going to be either a dual-core or weak quad-core.

In terms of RAM, don’t get anything with less than 4GB if you want to do anything even remotely close to multitasking.

Even 4GB is a bit too close to the minimum we recommend for modern laptops since you’ll start lagging once you open more than a dozen tabs in Chrome.

And you’ll have to deal with eMMC storage, which is slow and doesn’t last as long as a proper SSD.

Most 11-inch laptops are designed as netbooks/ Chromebooks, which rely on cloud storage and have slow processors with tiny amounts of RAM.

These are basic devices designed for people who just want to browse the web and read eBooks.

You can certainly use them to do the occasional spreadsheet or word processing, but an 11-inch display is far too small for any serious work.

It’s all about compromising in this segment of the market, so you have to choose which areas you’re willing to compromise on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Conclusion

We hope this article gave you some insight into which 11-inch laptop is the best for you.

Our top choice is the ASUS Laptop L210, thanks to its Celeron N4020 processor which has 2 physical cores and a decent base + boost clock.

It also has an excellent display, with vibrant colors and narrow bezels. The keyboard is backlit, and there is a Numpad built into the trackpad.

If you want a 2-in-1, get the Lenovo Flex 3 which has a MediaTek quad-core processor (ARM architecture).

And if you need the best display on any 11-inch notebook, get the Jumper EZbook X1 which has a Full HD IPS display. But it does cost significantly more than the ASUS Laptop L210 or Samsung Chromebook.
